Contraindications to drug application
Contraindications to drug application are recommended to be thoroughly studied as the doctor prescribes the drug taking into consideration them. Contraindications and health state are considered for correct prescription to provide the safety of the treatment course with Antabuse.
Contraindications include: serious cardiovascular diseases, disorders of organs of hearing, glaucoma, optic nerve neuritis, bronchial asthma, emphysema of lungs, tuberculosis, serious hepatic impairment, blood-forming disorder, diabetes, mental diseases, stomach ulcer, malignant tumours, and also intolerance of any drug component.
Also, Antabuse is forbidden during pregnancy and breast-feeding as the drug may negatively affect a fetus and an infant during breast-feeding.
Ascorbic acid and certain other medications, such as peroral anticoagulants, teophylline, phenitoin and others should not be taken with Antabuse.
